Stories

Here are some stories about things that happened to me, or just things that I did or said.

January 4th 2008

This evening I stuck a popcorn kernel into my ear. I didn't think it would get stuck. Tomorrow I'll have to go to the doctor to get it out.

January 5th 2008

This morning I went to the doctor. Luckily the popcorn kernel got covered with earwax during the night and that made it slippery enough for the doctor to pull it right out. I had to promise her never to put anything in my ears or nose ever again.

July 19th 2006

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned five. We celebrated my birthday at dinnertime. We had pizza for dinner. Then I opened my presents. I got a flashlight, two Veggie Tales movies, toy cars, walkie talkies and a calculator. Then it was time for cake. The cake looked like a cat. We turned off the lights and lit the candles, then I blew them out. When we were done eating cake we watched the movies and played with the new toys.

I gave this talk February 26th 2006. I read it all by myself!

In the Book of Mormon we can read about Nephi and his brothers Laman and Lemuel. Nephi obeyed God’s commandments and was happy. Laman and Lemuel did not always do what was right and were not happy. When they went to Jerusalem to try to get the brass plates from Laban, Laman and Lemuel were not happy to go and wanted to give up when they didn’t get the plates on their first try. Nephi knew that God had commanded them to get the plates and kept trying and was able to get the plates. When he brought the plates to his father Lehi he was very happy. Later when God asked Nephi to build a ship, Nephi obeyed and started making tools to build the ship with. Laman and Lemuel did not want to help build the ship and wanted to go back home. God had to shock them to make them work. This did not make them happy. Nephi worked hard the whole time and was very happy when the ship was completed. When they were sailing on the ship, Laman and Lemuel tried to be happy by drinking and dancing and being mean to Nephi. God did not like this and caused a storm to rock the ship. Only when Laman and Lemuel repented did the storm stop.
When we do good things that God wants us to do we are blessed and are happy. When we don’t do the things God commands us to do we are not happy. Another prophet, Alma, told his son that wickedness never was happiness. Even if we try to be happy by doing bad things, like Laman and Lemuel did on the ship, it will not bring happiness and could make us run into problems like the storm that rocked the ship.
The best blessing we can have by obeying the commandments is to live with God again. I hope I can have eternal happiness and live with God again someday.
I know the Church is true. I love my teacher. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

 Again

A few months ago, I gave my very first talk in primary. My dad helped me write it. Every one was very impressed because I read my talk all by myself and no one even had to help me. This is what I said:

There once was a man named Saul. He was a very wicked man. He fought against the church. He told people not to believe in Jesus. He even watched while members of the church were killed. Then one day he saw an angel who told him to stop doing bad things. Saul repented and was baptized. He changed his name to Paul and then went all around and taught people about Jesus. He helped others to repent and be baptized. When we repent we stop doing bad things. When we are baptized we make a promise with God to follow his commandments. When I do bad things I can repent and God will forgive me. When I turn eight years old I can be baptized. I know the church is true. I am thankful for my primary teacher. I love my Mom and Dad. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

My Birth

I was born on July 18th, 2001. Mom says I was induced because she couldn't wait for me to get out, and I seemed to keep chickening out. She'd take a walk and feel the contractions coming strong, but as soon as she got home, they would stop. She was frustrated, and on Monday, the 16th, she went to her doctor's appointment and complained. The doctor, Kathryn Cvar, offered to induce me, and made an appointment for Wednesday morning, early.
All day Tuesday Mom didn't feel a single contraction. Wednesday morning Mom and Dad dropped Hannah, my big sister, off at Grandma's house, and then they went to the hospital. When they put the belt on Mom that measures contractions, they discovered she was having contractions about six minutes apart, they just weren't strong enough for Mom to feel. The nurses started the pitocin around 8:00 and about four hours later, at 11:49am, I came into the world! I weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 17 1/2 inches long.
