23 July 2004

Lately, it has rained a lot. Like every afternoon. Usually it isn't too bad, just a little thunder shower for an hour or two, and then it stops. But On July 23rd it started like normal, but then it started hailing, and pouring, and before long, the flooding began. These pictures were taken 1/2 hour after it started to rain.

This is our playroom. Notice the reflection on the carpet and rug. It was under an inch or two of water! MaeLyn had to work quickly to get the toys and things off the ground that might be damaged by the water. It came up to within a few feet of the house before it began to recede again.

Above is the view from our front porch, looking to the left. Notice the stream of run-off coming from the houses up the hill. And yes, the sidewalk is completely under water. The water carried away most of the mulch around the plants in front of the house.

This is the view looking straight out our front door. The water covered the sidewalk and goes five or six feet beyond, a couple inches deep.

This is the view from our front porch looking right, towards the street.

See our house!

Since we live so far from most of our family and friends, and so many of you have never seen where we live, come take a virtual tour.
